In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty and in all thing’s charity (Rupertus Meldenius, 17th Century,
sometimes attributed to St. Augustine), "Christian" shall be defined as being in accordance with and in
furtherance of the following Statement of Faith (Source: Association of Christian Schools International):
1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God (2
Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21).
2. We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit2. (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30).
3. We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33), His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke
1:35), His sinless life (Hebrews 4: 15, 7:26), His miracles (John 2:11), His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9), His Resurrection (John 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:4), His Ascension to the right hand of God (Mark 16:19), His personal return in
power and glory (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11).
4. We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature and that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God's grace and through faith alone are we saved (John
3:16–19, 5:24; Romans 3:23, 5:8–9; Ephesians 2:8–10; Titus 3:5).
5. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of condemnation (John 5:28–29).
6. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians
2:12–13, Galatians 3:26–28).
7. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled
to live a godly life (Romans 8:13–14; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19–20; Ephesians 4:30, 5:18)
The biblical and philosophical goal of Northland Christian is to develop students into mature followers of Christ. This development includes, but is not limited to, issues of gender, marriage, and sexuality. As such, both prospective and current students at Northland are expected to live according to the beliefs outlined below. Refusal to support and to live by these beliefs will result in refusal of enrollment, re-enrollment, or expulsion.
We believe that the term "marriage" has only one meaning, which is marriage as created and sanctioned by God in which God joins one man and one woman in a single, life-long, and exclusive union as delineated in Scripture (Genesis 1:27-28, 2:18-24; Matthew 19:4-9; Mark 10:5-12; Ephesians 5:31-33).
- In accordance with Northland's stance on immorality, children whose parent(s) cohabit(s) with another (outside of marriage as Biblically-defined) will not be considered for enrollment.
We believe in the sanctity and the preservation of human life, which begins at the moment of fertilization, and extends to natural death, and that any material cooperation in the termination of unborn human life is sin (Ps.139:13-16; Isaiah 44:1-2; Isaiah 49:5; Job 10:8-12; Jeremiah 1:4-5; Luke 1:39-45).
We believe that any form of sexual immorality is sinful and offensive to God. Sexual immorality includes, but is not limited to, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography, and attempting to change one's biological sex or otherwise acting upon any disagreement with one's biological sex (Exodus 20:14; Leviticus 18:6-23; Deuteronomy 5:18; Matthew 5:27-28, 15:19; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-13; Galatians 5:19-21; 1Thessalonians 4:3-8; Hebrews 13:4).
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and repent from their sin, who seek His mercy and grace, and humbly ask for His forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Matthew 11:28-30; John 3:16-18, 14:6; Romans 10:9; 1 Corinthians 10:13; Ephesians 2:1-10; Hebrews 2:17-18, 4:14-16).
We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Treating anyone contrary to these principles is unacceptable and not in accordance with Scripture or the policies of Northland Christian Education System (Matthew 7:12; Galatians 5:22-25; Ephesians 4:2-6; Colossians 3:12-17).
To maintain Christian unity, all Northland employees, volunteers, independent contractors, parents, and students must agree to abide by Northland’s Statement on Gender, Marriage, and Sexuality. Failure to do so will result in removal from Northland Christian (Matthew 18:15-20; 1 Corinthians 5:9-13; 2 Corinthians 6:14-17).
